Glass Fusing Workshop – 14/11/2015

Advanced Glass Fusing Workshop on the 14th November 2015

Glass designer & maker Paul Floyd will lead afternoon sessions on glass fusing. The intermediate/advanced workshop will allow you to explore the techniques of fused glass as a creative medium.  Within the workshop you will build on your skills with cutting glass to a pattern and working with coloured sheet glass, frits and powders.

You will create an original piece of glasswork and can make either a panel or a medium-sized round/square bowl 20cm diameter.  Only 4 people per workshop for maximum individual attention.

  • Date: Saturday 14th November 2015
  • Time: 1:30pm till 5:30pm

Kinver Landscape Stained Glass Window

A 1930’s stained glass panel the studio recently restored for a clients front door entrance. Some wonderful use of colours in the original (hand-blown glass shield in the centre) and we were able to match some of the broken panes with heritage & new glass we had in stock.  The glass was cleaned and a complete re-leading was needed.  The restored panel, with new wooden beading and support bars is now back installed in the customers front door.

At the end of last week the studio made a ‘Presentation Panel’ for the Directors of the Charity Fight Bladder Cancer.

The artwork (Wee Are Family) was designed by one of their members and I used a combination of sheet glass, frits and line enamels.  It just shows that even an illustrative artwork can be used as inspiration.

Stained Glass Course – 10 Week 23/09/2015

Stained Glass Course: Day Class

Glass designer & maker Paul Floyd will lead classes on stained glass.  On the course you will learn the craft of stained glass and will design & make your own colourful leaded panel.  This course is suitable for complete beginners or intermediate students that would like to build on their previous skills and knowledge.

Students will learn to prepare a design, cut glass to a pattern, cut & shape the lead for the glass, solder, cement and polish the finished glass panel.

All tools are provided for the course and includes materials for a stained glass panel up to 35cm x 35cm.  Only 4 people per workshop for maximum individual attention.
