Beginners Fused Glass Workshop on the 5th November 2016

Glass designer & maker Paul Floyd will lead afternoon sessions on glass fusing. Teaching the basics of fusing, cutting glass to a pattern and working with coloured sheet glass, frits and powders. You will create an original piece of glasswork and make your own fused glass light-catcher. Only 4 people per workshop for maximum individual attention.

Christmas Craft Fayre 26th & 27th November 2016

Our Christmas Craft Fayre at the Ruskin Glass Centre on the 26th & 27th November 2016 from 10am till 4pm.

The Christmas Craft Fayre will include the cafe offering seasonal food, theatre & storytelling performances and a Craft Market.  There are also the 23 craft studios and shops onsite, with 6 new arrivals this Autumn.

The ‘Craft Stands’ will be selling a range of products from many disciplines, offering unique, handmade, affordable, exciting and creative displays of work.

Our ‘Christmas Craft Fayre’, offers a warm & friendly welcome, great food and unique gift buying opportunities.

Some of the highlights of the weekend:

  • Over 4 theatre performances throughout the weekend

  • Enville Ale will be providing the ‘Man Creche, & Prosecco bar’

  • Face painting & glitter tattoos with Candy Cart

Advanced Glass Fusing Workshop on the 29th October 2016

Glass designer & maker Paul Floyd will lead afternoon sessions on glass fusing. The intermediate/advanced workshop will allow you to explore the techniques of fused glass as a creative medium.  Within the workshop you will build on your skills with cutting glass to a pattern and working with coloured sheet glass, frits and powders.

You will create an original piece of glasswork and can make either a panel or a medium-sized round/square bowl 20cm diameter.  Only 4 people per workshop for maximum individual attention.

Stained Glass Day Workshop 22/10/2016

Stained Glass Day Course – Saturday 22nd October 2016

Glass designer & maker Paul Floyd will lead a day class on stained glass.  This day course is suitable for beginners and is an introduction to the craft of stained glass.

Students will look at designs, choose glass, learn how to cut glass to a pattern and shape the lead to make their own colourful panel.

All tools are provided and the course includes materials for a stained glass panel up to 20cm x 20cm.  Only 3 people per workshop for maximum individual attention.

Participant Information:

Aprons will be provided, please wear older clothes and no open-toe shoes.  This course involves working with lead and unfortunately we recommend that pregnant & nursing mothers do not attend.

Throughout the day there will be lunch and tea breaks.  Lunch, drinks and a wonderful selection of cakes can be obtained from the Ruskin Glass Centre Organic Café.  Café opens Monday to Saturday between 10am till 3:30pm.

Stained Glass Course – 8 Week – Start: 13/09/2016

Stained Glass Course: Day Class

Glass designer & maker Paul Floyd will lead classes on stained glass.  On the course you will learn the craft of stained glass and will design & make your own colourful leaded panel.  This course is suitable for Intermediate students who have previously attended a Beginners Course and that would like to build on their previous skills and knowledge.

Students will learn to prepare a design, cut glass to a pattern, cut & shape the lead for the glass, solder, cement and polish the finished glass panel.

All tools are provided for the course and includes materials for a stained glass panel up to 35cm x 35cm.  Only 3 people per workshop for maximum individual attention.
