Beginners Fused Glass Workshop – 25/06/2022

Beginners Fused Glass Workshop on the 25th June 2022

Glass designer & maker Paul Floyd will lead sessions on glass fusing. Teaching the basics of fusing, cutting glass to a pattern and working with coloured sheet glass, frits and powders. We have a selection of patterns available for you to choose from and have a large range of colours for inspiration and design. You will create an original piece of glasswork and make your own fused glass light-catcher. Only 4 people per workshop for maximum individual attention.

Date: Saturday 25th June 2022
Time: 10am till 12:30pm
Costs: £40 (includes all materials, fusing & postage of glasswork)

At the end of last week the studio made a ‘Presentation Panel’ for the Directors of the Charity Fight Bladder Cancer.

The artwork (Wee Are Family) was designed by one of their members and I used a combination of sheet glass, frits and line enamels. It just shows that even an illustrative artwork can be used as inspiration.

‘Liquid Light’ Art Commission

We have just finished an Art Glass wall panel for clients using our ‘Liquid Light’ fusing technique.

The commission started from a series of fabric and wall paper samples that the clients had brought in to show us. Their colour theme was red, gold and beige. We used ruby reds, ambers and clear glass to match their colour palette as close as possible. The ‘Liquid Light’ technique creates a wonderful overlay of colour and several tones are formed when these colours mix.

The panel will be mounted on to a canvas backing using polished brass/gold fittings and will hopefully look fantastic as an Art Glass feature in their private residence.

Liquid Light Art Glass

We have been creating a unique Art Glass panel as part of a commission, using our ‘Liquid Light’ technique.

Like a painting colour is added and built up in layers. Overlaying coloured glass creates new colours and forms. Then finally the glass is fire-polished in the kiln to create our Art Glass of colour, movement and light.
